He spent 30 years as a Secondary School teacher, but his acting career started well before that, when, at the age of about 12, his mother volunteered him for young male parts in productions put on by the nurses at the hospital where she worked! Since then he has been a prolific actor, having been in films with Daniel Day Lewis and Cameron Diaz, taking lead roles in most of the Shakespeare plays and even television advertisements! He enjoys Mahjong and, not surprisingly, Play Reading, and runs the Westerham Writers Group!

In her working life she had a variety of positions including 11 years as a dental nurse. She then moved on to a scheme to curb truancy, involving working with the boys, the parents and the Education Welfare Office! After that experience she became a doctor’s receptionist, finishing up as clerical support at a Day Centre for people with learning disabilities! She loves being with people so that’s probably why she runs a Sunday Lunch Club, joins the Local Studies outings and attends the theatre!

Having trained as a mechanical engineer and studied Industrial Measurement and Automatic Control Systems, I worked for a German manufacturer of cash registers and punch tape machines, developing interfaces to link to minicomputers. I eventually set up my own business as a consultant for Casio computers and became a director of 3 companies connected with Electronic Point of Sale Systems. Since losing my wife in 2020 I have taken up painting, cycling with my daughter and granddaughter and, in 2021, I became a member of the u3a. Since then, I have joined the German conversation and Sunday Lunch Groups, activities that provide much fun and laughter with like-minded people. Last year I became part of the committee and am now responsible for ‘the technical stuff!”
