Coffee Mornings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 10.30am.
The Open Meetings are obviously devoted to the Speaker so there is little time to chat to old friends or get to know new ones. The solution is to come along to the coffee mornings held, on the 1st Wednesday of the month, in the front room of Westerham Hall. If you are a new member it is a relaxed way to meet others and discover, over a cuppa, all the activities that the u3a can offer! If you know anyone thinking of joining bring them along – they may well decide to join on the spot!

D.H. Lawrence : The War Years : People and Places by Dudley Nichols
In this illustrated talk Dudley Nichols explores why the modernist writer D.H. Lawrence and his wife Frieda lived at many different locations during the years 1914-1919. This was a frustrating time for Lawrence trapped in England by war regulations and short of money. He was unable to publish two of his greatest novels “The Rainbow” and “Women in Love”. However, during this time Lawrence established relationships with a range of fascinating individuals with talents in music, art and literature.

Extra Open Meeting Thursday 26th June 2025 2pm   Why British Sign Language? by Lindsey Barrell 2pm
Why does Rosie Ayling Ellis, deaf winner of Strictly Come Dancing, want to ‘teach the world to sign? So many people think that British Sign Language is only for the deaf and hard of hearing but it is used in so many situations nowadays - babies and young children, post trauma victims and anyone with communication problems. For those lucky enough not to have such problems, it allows them to communicate with those that do! This community benefit has at last been recognised and it is now an official language with GCSE courses offered by many establishments. Westerham u3a have invited Lindsey to Westerham Hall at 2pm to take us through some myth busting, factoids and basic greetings, resulting in a fascinating and fun, interactive session for all to enjoy. The afternoon is free to attend and you are welcome to bring friends and neighbours along. It is designed to inform only and no further commitment is required but if there is sufficient interest we will hope to extend the programme.

Open Meeting Thursday 10th July 2025 2pm

Moor Park Mansion Thursday July 17th
Apart from the occasional talk/visit, the Architecture Group has been inactive recently but on Thursday July 17th a group will visit Moor Park Mansion nr Rickmansworth, for a guided tour of this neo-Palladian mansion set in 350 acres of parkland. The site once belonged to Cardinal Wolsey but is now the home of the Moor Park Golf Club - a truly unique 19th hole! The tour will start at 1pm with a presentation, plus tea, coffee and biscuits, and will last about an hour, leaving time to enjoy the park in the (hopefully) sunshine. There are only 20 spaces available so book in swiftly to guarantee your place!
