LATIN
Meetings: Fortnightly on Wednesdays in Tutor's home.
It was primarily set up to provide a knowledge of the language, whose uses include deciphering mottoes, dates and inscriptions appearing in the various historic buildings visited by the Architecture and similar groups. It is primarily designed for those who did Latin at school and wish to revive their knowledge. We are lucky to have an excellent tutor who aims to make learning this beautiful and useful language as enjoyable and painless as possible.

LINE DANCING
Meeting: Every First and Third Monday 2.00 to 3.30 in Westerham Hall
Approximately 20 of us gather together to dance. Gemma teaches us new dances every week and, of course, we all enjoy coming back to the ones we know well, old favourites such as Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide or Cotton Eye Joe. New people join us every week and have no trouble following Gemma's clear instructions. The fun is in listening to the music and concentrating on the steps so that you don't even notice the wonderful exercise your body is getting as a result. Really good fun and great for both body and mind!

LOCAL STUDIES
Meetings: On 3rd Wednesday of month 2.30 – 4.00pm, at members' homes
Our objective is to research and discover places of interest that have contributed to our local heritage and culture. We meet to consider venues for our next visit and two members then research that location and arrange an itinerary for the following month, to include a guided tour by a local historian if appropriate. At the following meeting we discuss the highlights and agree the next village/town to explore. We visit about 5 sites a year and over the past three years we have been to 15 locations including Edenbridge, Seal, Old Oxted and East Grinstead.

LONDON EXPLORERS
Meetings: Variable
Our outings usually combine guided visits to interesting places within the London area - and sometimes beyond - with coffee stops and sometimes lunch. We meet at an appropriate main line or underground station and usually walk for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Some walks are free, others charge - it just depends where we are bound! Recently we have visited St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the upgraded Kings Cross area, Little Venice, Rotherhithe/Docklands and a Brunel walk around Greenwich.

PLAY READING
Meetings: The 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2.30 pm in Westerham Hall.
Members suggest a play which the Group accesses via Kent libraries. Members are allocated parts on the basis of those known to be attending, making sure that everyone has a fair turn. We don’t rehearse but members know of their roles in advance. The Group has read ‘The Deep Blue Sea’, ‘When We Are Married’ and ‘Separate Tables’ to mention a few. We have a little discussion about what we’ve read.

POETRY 1
Meetings: Once a fortnight on Fridays from 2-4pm in members' homes
The Group provides its own copies of the chosen poet or anthology as it is vital for the appreciation of a poem to have the words in front of you. We have recently read the Oxford Book of English Verse and are now well into the Penguin Book of American Verse. This group pre-dates Westerham u3a, as it has been going for 23 years but obviously the members have changed!
