Details of Westerham U3A’s latest programme of meetings and upcoming outings have been released. The charity runs monthly talks (free of charge) and a wide variety of interest groups and social activities for those no longer in full time employment.

The next Open Meetings in Westerham U3A’s 2017 calendar are on two very different subjects - the first is about taking books to remote areas of SE Africa, and the second compares and contrasts Islamic and Christian art, while asking ‘whose God is it anyway?’
Local ex-teacher, Tina Rhoda’s talk on Volunteering in Malawi (2pm, Westerham Hall, 13 April), takes the audience to one of the world’s poorest and least developed countries.

Great lovers, the Titanic and the jewels of the Duchess of Windsor … Westerham U3A’s latest programme of Open Meetings announced
Details of Westerham U3A’s 2017 Open Meetings programme have been released – and romance is on the cards for 2017, with talks on Great Lovers and the Jewels and Wardrobe of the Duchess of Windsor, the woman behind the abdication of Edward VIII. In contrast, Samuel Pepys’ experiences of the plague and the Great Fire of London, and volunteering with the backdrop of poverty and HIV in Malawi will also be covered.

Spring into fitness initiative through April 2016
With spring around the corner, Westerham U3A is launching an initiative to get people out and about and active. Spring into fitness is an open invitation to anyone who’d like to know more about the U3A and who wants to increase their fitness to join them on a series of activities – indoor and out.

Autumn programme of Open Meetings announced - September 2015
Details of the autumn programme of Westerham U3A’s Open Meetings have been released.
Member of the Magic Circle, John Field, will begin the season with a talk on ‘The amazing world of magic’ (2pm, 10 September, Westerham Hall).
He will be followed by the acclaimed world history author, Christopher Lloyd, whose subject is ‘The Magna Carta’ (8 October) ... As Christmas approaches, Toni Field will talk about the original celebrity cookery writer, in ‘Mrs Beeton’s Christmas’ (12 November). Read full release

Westerham U3A was formed in July 2013 and currently has around 230 members. In common with other U3As around the country, its aim is to provide educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment for those no longer working full time.
